Jessica Morwaeng has been crowned Miss Public Service, Gaborone City Council District 2016.

Morwaeng managed to scoop the title at a combined Miss Gaborone City Council annual event, which also featured the elderly women’s beauty contest dubbed Miss BOT50 entertainment.

In her response, she said she was aiming at using the platform to preach to the youth about issues of empowerment.

“I shall be working with the Youth Empowerment Society Botswana, where I am currently volunteering to conduct mentoring and tutoring sessions and career programs.

I intend to use my eight years of accounting experience at the city council, under the rates office, to mentor the youth on the financial aspect of business management,” she said.

She said she will also use the platform to reach out to the other public servants as there was need to bring in new ideas in tackling issues of corruption and demotivated employees. “This is crucial since the public service is all about providing service and doing it with love, which is now lacking amongst us,” she expelled.

The first and second princes accolades went to Lindiwe Lebelwana, and Koketso Dipatane respectively .

Also Crowned Miss BOT50  entertainment was Tshwaranang Mosarwa, the First Princess, Maikutlo Mosimanemotho and the Second Princess, Merapelo Olebile.

For her part, Milane Selwe, the council’s chief social welfare officer said the motive behind the event was to identify talent among the workers.

“We need to assist our workers to identify their talent, which they can later use in their workplace to enrich themselves and later market our country,” she said.

The show was part of the preliminary preparation for the final lap to be held soon which will cover all the council districts in Botswana. Ends
