BOT50 momentous event

Public servants have been urged to take pride in their country as they prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of independence in September.
This was said by Jwaneng deputy district commissioner, Kolobetso Sejakgomo when opening the Jwaneng District public service day celebrations on performing arts recently.
Sejakgomo said although they started without a budget, she was grateful that it did not become a setback for the preparations, but rather brought cooperation amongst the workers.
She said as public servants they should also take the momentum to build towards celebrating Botswana’s 50th anniversary in September.
The deputy district commissioner further urged civil servants to love their country and to do everything to the best of their ability.
“As we celebrate today, let’s do it with love, knowing that we are celebrating our day as we prepare towards the big day when we will be celebrating public service day and our independence,” she added. Kolobetso also said they should take the vibe towards rejoicing the bigger day of BOT50.
“Today was a very happy day, everyone did a wonderful job and it shows that we know where we are going as we move forward to celebrating the big day itself,” she said.
Giving a vote of thanks, Kgosi Mpaesele Itumeleng of Jwaneng said the day was for a good cause as it showed the raw talent that public servants had.
He said even though the day was for competition, they did not only take it as a competition but rather used it to come and work together.
Kgosi Itumeleng also applauded the town leaders and everyone for having taken their time to see to it that the day was celebrated in such a manner.
“We are all winners, let’s motivate and support those who are going for the finals,” he said.
Kgosi Itumeleng further urged public servants to work hard as they march forward to celebrating the big day.
One of the judges, Innocent Mosweu said even though the performers did exceptionally well, there were still areas that needed improvement to prepare them to face off with other districts. He urged them to take note of areas such as relevance of performance to the theme, creativity, general appearance as well as facial expressions, amongst other attributes.
The district competitions covered areas such as choral music, traditional song and dance, polka, comedy, traditional choir, poetry, contemporary music, drama and Deejay. Ends
