Department of Information Services employee, Mary Mofaladi, has been crowned Kgatleng District’s Miss Public Service.

Public officers met in Mochudi on Friday to outclass each other in an activity organised to allow officers to show case their talent in preparation for the Public Service Day celebrations.

Both Mr and Miss Public Service took part in the competition and the vibe was intense as officers from across the departments turned up to take part in the contest.

Beauty contests by nature, come with glitz and glamour and public officers did not disappoint as they displayed the best of attire.

And Mofaladi stood tall among the rest to clinch the coveted prize.

The competition opened with a cultural showcase of various traditional clothing, dance and activities with each competitor coming onto the stage to prove themselves.

Mofaladi came on with Sesubiya clothing and began to dance according to their culture strutting her dress with awe and won the hearts of many.

Support began to build for her when they came back with formal wear and later with dazzling dresses her fate began to be sealed first by supporters.

It was her dress that separated her from among the rest of the contestants.  The yellow dress fitted her perfectly well that it was as if the fluffy feathers were knitted in her body.

When she came on to the stage alone, it was a done deal already as the beaming smile said it all and judges were forced to give her credit.

In an interview, Mofaladi said she did not expect to be crowned queen but was hoping for at least first princess.

She said the crown came as a surprise despite support from the audience but she did all her best to give others competition.

Mofaladi said it was not easy as she was not used to this kind of competition but she was grateful for the achievement and thanked God for according her the opportunity.

She said going forward she had to prepare even more as she would meet tough competition in the national finals.

“I will have to look back at the things I did not do well and correct myself, but also continue to seek for support from those how have been there so I can compete well with others”, Mofaladi said.

Mofaladi’s runners up were first princess Olebogeng Gabokgale of tribal administration and second princess Sedilame Mothutsane of Kgatleng District Council.

Serwe won the hearts of the audience with his ease on stage and his fashion sense from traditional attire, corporate attire and his slim fit black tie tuxedo.

His audacity in answering pushed him to the top to reign as Mr Public Service Kgatleng.
