As a musician of repute who has endeared himself to Batswana through his music, Pule Magashula now wants to make use of his talents to educate the boy child to grow up as a responsible man in society.

Popularly known as  P–Mag in music circles, the musician this Saturday took to Peleng ground where he gathered boys and men to educate and encourage them to take charge and be responsible for their lives. Through the event he dubbed: A boy child and male involvement, P – Mag said he wants to use his talent as a musician to take his music to the people and at the same time preach to the boy child and males to take responsibility and play a meaningful role in growing their country.

He said for some time men have been lagging behind, especially on issues of health, and that he decided to use music to draw people to listen to messages from experienced people.

At the Peleng event, P–Mag invited renowned musicians in the likes of T–bo Touch of the Fresh to Tswak fame, Skazzo as well as Maxy Sedumedi on stage as well as Lobatse upcoming artists who also preached male involvement in health issues and encouraged the youth to take charge of their lives.

Cowhorn Productions managing director, Otlaadisa Johnson, who was the guest speaker at the event, said each and every individual has a responsibility to build a better future for themselves.

Otlaadisa, who  is also a film producer and performing artist groomer, encouraged the attendants who were mostly boys, never to let their future to be determined by where they were coming from, but rather where they wish to go as they grow up.

‘One’s background, no matter how poor it is, is never supposed to determine where one ends in life,” he stressed, adding that it was never a fault for one to be born poor, but rather a fault for one to die poor. He encouraged the little boys and girls who attended the launch of the campaign to grow up as responsible men and women, to have dreams and work towards attaining the dream of building a better future.

“A better living is attainable as long as you start with a dream and work towards attaining that dream,”  he said.

Many of the celebrated stars and renowned men and women in the universe, he continued, did not necessarily start from a rich background, but started poor and worked their way towards attaining wealth and good living.

He also implored the attendants to focus on God and to have faith in God as God was the source of all strength and his knowledge the beginning of wisdom.

A representative from Lobatse District Health Management Team, Doreen Mofaladi applauded the brains behind the campaign, saying for a long time men have been left behind when discussing issues of health.

“It is in this regard that men also lagged behind in taking the lead to tackle health issues and challenges that they face,” said Molatedi. She added that it was imperative that men and boys were taken on board in tackling health issues.

She also said it was important for men to be provided with skills to empower them at a young age for them to be able to support and know how to live harmoniously with each other as partners when they were grown up.

She also implored men to take responsibility for their sexual reproductive lives and to grow as role models to the young boys.

She said health education was imperative among both males and females for them to be equally empowered. Ends
