Pre-independence celebrations heat up

BOT50 pre independence celebrations are beginning to gain momentum.

One of the events was a music festival at Serokolwane lawns on Thursday night.

The festival saw independent producers in collaboration with their South African counterparts being able to bring artists together to show unity in the music industry.

The lineup included South African artists in the likes of AKA, Kelly Khumalo, Dr Malinga, Teddy Bear, Vukani while local artists were Bouncy, MMP Family, Mahempe, Mosako, 7VEN 11, Bishop and disc jockeys in Ricky Lamar and Chef Gustos.

Despite the pre-launch celebrations colliding with Easter Holidays, the turn up was not bad.
One of the organisers, Eugene Lebone of 7VEN 11 said in an interview that they decided to come together as producers to pull a show of this magnitude.

He noted that they did not request for any funds, but were paying artists from their own pockets.
He said the festival marked the beginning of a series of festivals that would be held across the country prior to Botswana independence anniversary.

Lebone said people should not be worried about organisers bringing in South African artists as music knew no boundaries. Ends
