Two Batswana men, Robert Kentshitswe,45, and Lucas Goboiwang, 42, together with their co-accused Turner Majanisi,32, from Zimbabwe were denied bail by Jwaneng Magistrate Odirile Mokgatle on Monday.

According to the charge sheet  the trio are accused of shop breaking and theft contrary to Section 302(a) of Penal Code Cap 08.01 of the laws of Botswana.

The accused persons are reported to have jointly with a common purpose broke into Taku Sole Shoes and stole shoes amounting to about P6 000 on March 17, 2016 in Jwaneng .

On account two, the trio are also charged with unlawful possession of explosives.

The three accused, again on March 17 2016, were unlawfully found in possession of explosives without a permit for them.

Investigating officer, Constable Kgosietsile Shimane asked the court not to grant bail to the three men because the case was still at the initial stage.

He said they were still waiting for the explosives to be examined at their laboratory. He also said they were still to record witness statements.

Constable Shimane also stated that Goboiwang had a case at the Molepolole Magistrate Court, adding that his bail conditions stated that he should not be involved in any criminal activities.

Magistrate Mokgatle reprimanded the trio in custody. Ends
