Motor vehicle theft hits Tutume
10 Mar 2016
Tutume Police Station Commander, Superintendent Jerry Halahala says they are concerned with the emerging crime of car theft in Tutume.
Speaking in an interview, Supt Halahala said they have recorded four cases of stolen vehicles in the past five days, noting that all the vehicles were stolen while parking in homesteads at night.
He further explained that the thieves break into the vehicles and push them outside the yard so that they could start the engine without waking up the owners.
He said they have managed to track down all the stolen vehicles and recovered them, in the process arresting one suspect.
Supt Halahala advised the public to take care of their vehicles especially at night, adding that they should make sure that they always lock their vehicles when they go to bed to minimise the chances of them being stolen. Ends
