Motsage releases album
09 Mar 2016
Even though 30-year-old Tlotlo Motsage burst into the music scene at a young age, he only recorded and released his first album titled Chillies Eyathandeka vol 1 in 2011. Unfortunately the album did not do well, making it difficult for him to receive any recognition from the music industry.
Despite all the aforementioned disappointments, Motsage never looked back. He worked hard to build his profile by working with different artistes.
DihotChille as Motsage is affectionately known in the music industry is back again five years later with his second 11 track album, Chillies Eyathandeka Vol. 2.
While asked why it took him so long to release his second album, the ever vibrant and energetic Motsage just smiled and said, “Look, my first album was not well received in the market. So I had to be a bit careful about my second album.
I waited for the right moment and I strongly believe that there is no better time than now,” he said.
Quizzed about how he chose the name of the album, Motsage pointed out that the name was motivated by the use of the chilli(pepper) while Eyathandeka is a Ndebele word that means to be liked. So the album simply translates to chilli is liked.
“What I like most about chilli is how some farmers in Botswana especially in Chobe region use it to keep the elephants away from their farms. To me this is very interesting,” he said.
One of the interesting tracks in the album to listen to is Elijabulisayo. This is also a Ndebele word that means happiness at all times.
He said the song was motivated by the fact that Botswana will be turning 50 years in a few months hence the need to be happy and rejoice about that. “Even the cover of my CD reflects the colours of our national flag,” stated Motsage.
Motsage who is also a poet said he was satisfied by how his album has been received by the public. “I am very much confident that this album will go a long way in catapulting my potential to every single listener,” he said. Ends
