With the Thapong Artist of The Year Award (TAYA) art exhibition having concluded last month, art lovers have been anticipating the next exhibition at the renowned Thapong Visual Arts Centre and recently a group of young artists started off their exhibition which will go on for two weeks.

Speaking on the exhibition, Coordinator of Thapong Visual Arts Centre eginald Bakwena said the group of young artists have officially started off the Thapong schedule for exhibitions and in March they will also have a member’s exhibition.

“All of our members will exhibit on the month of March and this time around we will not be judging their artworks,” he said, adding that the sole purpose of the exhibition will be to expose their work to art lovers.

Bakwena encouraged art lovers to make their way to Thapong which in turn will give confidence to the artists.

For his part, one of the young artists who will part of the exhibition on Saturday said in an interview that they are eight (8) in total.

“It will be six (6) men and two (2) women exhibiting and the exhibition started off on February 26 and it will go on for a good two weeks,” said Thatayaone Ramolapong.

Ramolapong further said the art exhibition is showcasing artworks among them pottery, painting and drawing.

“Some of the artists exhibiting have done before and for some it will be the first time,” he said, adding that since they started last week Friday, people have been coming to the centre to look at the artworks.

He indicated that the interest has been somehow encouraging but he feels more people should come forth and appreciate their work.  Ends
