 Magistrate Segametsi Sesinyi of Jwaneng has denied bail to Lillian Chununu who has been charged with possession of substance suspected to be dagga.

The 51year old Zimbabwean national was arrested on February 11 near Sekoma in the Southern district when she was travelling. Her plea was reserved pending completion of investigations.

The magistrate said the accused person could not be granted bail because the case was still fresh and the accused did not have a place of residence in Botswana.

The investigating officer Sergeant Shedrack Moatswi told the court that the matter was still new and they were yet to carry out investigations where the accused person was coming from. The case was schedule for mention on February 26, 2016 when the accused is expected to plead and also bring her defence attorney as she had indicated. Ends
