Rakorong judgement April 4
23 Feb 2016
Molepolole magistrate, Bhekimpilo Sibanda is expected to deliver judgement on April 4, in which a former Barclays Bank employee, Portia Rakorong is facing 58 counts of stealing over P400 000
The 29-year-old Rakorong is said to have fraudulently obtained the money from Barclays Bank sometimes between 2009 and 2010.
The defence resumed with a cross examination of Rakorong by her attorney, Aobakwe Monamo of Duma Boko Attorneys with the accused disputing the charges against her.
Magistrate Sibanda ordered that the prosecution should serve the defence with final submissions, and that the defence should submit them on or before March 18.
The prosecution had intended to call 22 witnesses, but only three were called to testify against the accused.
Mr Monamo asked why her contract was terminated, and Rakorong said she was given a dismissal letter for negligence and mishandling the banks money amounting over P13 000 which was reported by the bank to be missing from her cubicle.
She said her contract was terminated in November 2010 following a disciplinary hearing by her employer. Ends
