Ghanzi residents will for the first time be treated to a laid-back camp chair event in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere come end of February.

The event simply termed Desert Camp Chair and Cooler Box Chillaz is organised by BlackPebbles Events and will be held at Desert Coin farm on February 27, just a few kilometres from the town centre.  With the revellers used to indoor night life in Ghanzi, the Desert Camp Chair and Cooler Box Chillaz  could be a surreal thriller for the residents. 

Ghanzi township is characterised mostly by indoor entertainment with popular spots like the famous Tshola Uzwe aka Hill Talk Club as well as community hall. The only relaxed entertainment often available is individual parties in their homes where interaction is at its minimum. 

Desert Camp Chairs and Cooler Box Chillaz therefore offers the township an alternative fun festival in an outdoor relaxed atmosphere with their camp chairs and cooler boxes along with good music. Motsenyane Tau, one of the organisers of Desert Camp Chair and Cooler Box event says although the event will not be a live music performance but a Dj’s mix performance, patrons will enjoy great music and kick back and relax with friends during the event. 

“The idea is to chill and relax while enjoying good music of soul house, soothing rhythm and blues, jazzy soul house, old kwaito tunes as well as commercial house on a beautiful Saturday in a beautiful setting,” he quips. 

Because it is a summer gig which starts late afternoon, Tau encourages those who will be attending to choose comfortable attire but not compromising their style. He says based on the perfection of the weather as it is summer, people might choose to stroll around in shorts and tees, but he cautioned them to get light jackets for chill nights as the event gets way into the night. 

Meanwhile, the owner of Desert Coin farm Lekone Koketso says the place is meant for entertainment away from the town centre, as it gives patrons an opportunity to enjoy themselves without limitation. Koketso says he has big  plans for the farm which he hopes to be the entertainment spot for Ghanzi. 

Desert Camp Chair and Cooler Box Chillaz brings to the stage one of the veterans of the decks tables Dj Sunlight alongside Dj Zaz with his old kwaito and rhythm and blues tunes as well as other renowened Ghanzi Djs. Tickets are sold for P30 single and P50 double while cooler boxes are free. Ends
