Court issues warrant of arrest for Modise
09 Feb 2016
Magistrate Basetsana Keakantse this week issued a warrant of arrest for one Gabatlale Modise of Taukobong ward in Kanye after he failed to appear before Jwaneng magistrate court on February 8.
The accused person was scheduled to undergo trial on the said date for two counts of burglary and two counts of stealing from a dwelling house.
The state prosecution led by Inspector Lorato Chabaetsile had pleaded with the court to issue a warrant of arrest for the accused person after he failed to honour trial dates on three different occasions.
Inspector Chabaetsile indicated that Modise’s case has been before the court since October 2014 and he had failed to appear for the first trial scheduled for September 1, 2015 as well as the consecutive date in November 2015. She noted that the accused has for the third time failed to show up despite him being fully aware of trial dates.
She further noted that the prosecution had only received his sick off note for February 5 and 6, 2016 and therefore they were expecting him in court on February 8, which never happened.
The next mention date is February 22 or as soon as the accused was arrested. Ends
