09 Feb 2016
Police in Mochudi are investigating two accidents that claimed two lives last Saturday.
Supt Olebile Sitale of Mochudi Police Station said in an interview that one of the accidents occurred at Morwa Junction. It involved a truck and a Toyota Conquest, which had four occupants, including the driver.
He said investigations have revealed that the truck driver miscalculated the speed of the Toyota Conquest and entered the road leading to a collision that claimed the life of a 28 year old man.
Supt Sitale said one passenger and the driver were treated for minor injuries and later discharged while one passenger was admitted at Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital.
He expressed worry at the number of accidents that occur at Morwa junction. He advised drivers to drive with caution and enter the junction appropriately.
In the other accident, a 23 year old man died after the vehicle he was driving overturned along the Rasesa road.
He said that they suspect that the driver was over-speeding at the time of the accident, and failed to control the vehicle on a curve.
In yet another accident, which occurred near Bela-Bela along the A1 road, a 51 year old man sustained injuries and a broken leg after he was hit by a car while crossing the road.
Sitale cautioned pedestrians crossing the A1 road to exercise caution at all times. Ends
