05 Feb 2016

Police are investigating an incident in which a 32-year-old man of Maunatlala ward in Orapa committed suicide after allegedly killing a 27-year-old woman of Tonota on Wednesday.

Orapa Police Station commander, Superintendent Kabo Badirwang, said the man reportedly went to the deceased’s place at around 5:25am and hit her with a broom and rod.

The incident was allegedly witnessed by some Letlhakane Senior Secondary School students who were preparing to leave for school and some neighbours who were awakened by the deceased’s screams.

The woman, who was a security intern at Debswana, reportedly told her killer on Monday that she intended to end their relationship.

In another case, Supt Badirwang said two men aged 32 and 27 years were arrested at Mokobaxane veterinary gate in possession of 20 grams of dagga. He said the dagga was hidden in the side mirror of the vehicle they were driving.

Supt Badirwang stated that cases of dagga use were a concern in their policing area. He said some people hid the dagga in bags of sugar, maize meal and flour. The suspects were detained while police investigations continue. Ends
