Court denies irresponsible mother bail
04 Feb 2016
A Thamaga woman accused of neglecting her six children has been sent back to prison after an attempt to get her freed on bail was dismissed by Molepolole magistrate, Ms Lindiwe Makgoro.
The accused Boitumelo Botsang of Mmankgodi, 33, is alleged to have abandoned her six children since 2012 and was apprehended in December.
Boitumelo attempted to get released on bail, saying she needed to prepare for her daughter who has been admitted to senior secondary school.
The prosecutor, Sub Inspector Moshe Karabo, however, objected to the accused’s bail application, arguing that the accused had failed her six children on several occasions and that they were currently the responsibility of social workers who have been entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of the said children.
Sub Inspector Karabo also noted that the accused was previously given a chance to prove herself, and absconded again by leaving a three months old baby until she returned home around the Christmas holidays.
She is expected to appear again on February 15. Meanwhile, three men accused of robbing Edmond Pajor goods valued over P10 000 will appear again for mention on February 15 after making an appearance before Molepolole senior magistrate, Mr William Modise.
The three, Abel Sebetso, James Moitseemang and Omogolo Gareratane, aged between 21 and 30, robbed Pajor of his valuables worth over P10 000 after they violently attacked him.
In a similar incident, a 17-year-old Borakalaro woman appeared briefly before Molepolole magistrate, Ms Lindiwe Makgoro for allegedly injuring Benjamin Gofetolwang before robing him of his valuables.
The two victims were reportedly admitted at Bokamoso Private Hospital where they were receiving medical attention. ENDS
