CHILLSTEPSUNDAYS pushes boundaries
03 Feb 2016
Thabo Drew Letsebe-Chadhall’s CHILLSTEPSUNDAYS show on Sunday at Stanbic Bank Piazza continues to impress and inject energy in art enthusiasts and those that love outdoor day type of events.
Not only did the show see a significant number of people thronging Molapo Crossing Mall, but a lot of art that were on display also caught people’s attention.
The event was the seventh edition, while the one slated for February 28 would be the eighth edition.
Letsebe-Chadhall need to be applauded for his continued strive towards promoting young Botswana artists and helping them develop their craft from the constructive feedback they get from art lovers and experts.
The young Letsebe-Chadhall said in an interview that they do not have sponsors, but they fund everything from their pockets and rarely make profit.
“We wish for sponsors to jump on board and help grow the initiative as it is a national thing. Unfortunately sponsors that have approached us either wish to rip us off or dilute the concept to benefit their brands. However, we wish to thank those who have stuck with us in kind such as Alpha Events, Stanbic Bank Piazza, Big Show, Audio House, Yarona FM, Native Events and BlackTie Events. They have helped make a few things easy for us,” he said.
With the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Thapelo Olopeng having pronounced the creative arts industry as the future of job creation, Letsebe-Chadhall noted that it still remains sad that big corporations that could lend a helping hand were still not jumping on bound to help.
He further indicated that artists can visit their Facebook page at Facebook.com/ChillstepSundays or email info@popupbw.com to register to be listed.
“Currently everything is free from registration to exhibiting and we encourage young, upcoming and talented artists to reach out,” he said.
He said he is currently working on opening a small gallery shop at Molapo Crossing late February, adding that they would do openings and even private exhibitions for your young talent.
He indicated that he was very passionate when it comes to the creative industry and he would continue striving to promote, develop and nurture art in Botswana through his various platforms and initiatives. Ends
