Time to put everything behind - Diva Vebrok
31 Jan 2016
Local musician, Veronica Brooks, also known as Diva Vebrok held a thanksgiving ceremony at Empire Lounge, which is intended to celebrate her 10-year success in the music industry and seek reconciliation with her estranged fellow musicians, courtesy of Holiday World.
The event, which had appearances of amongst others controversial Berry Heart, Kwasa Kwasa guru Tumza, music promoter, Zenzele Hirchfeld, Shanti-lo and Lloyd was lightened up by the soothing and mind blowing performance of the queen herself, Diva Vebrok and David, who is renowned for his niger style lyric lingo.
“I have had a clash with Vee, Slizer, Max, James Ratshosa and Franco for a long time therefore I want to put everything behind, make peace and move on, I feel these differences are having a setback on us, in the music industry, as we cannot collaborate or work together in anyway, ” she said.
Although she said she has asked the artists to be there during the thanksgiving ceremony, they were not able to attend due to other commitments.
Vebrok said the main reason behind the ceremony was to instil the spirit of teamwork and encourage more collaboration among Botswana artists. “We want to implant the spirit of cooperation, teamwork and selflessness,” she said.
Combined with the thanksgiving ceremony, Diva Vebrok also launched her new single entitled Oteke, a Nigerian word, which simply means “life.”
Coincidentally, the song also bears similar context to the thanksgiving event. It narrates a man who asks for forgiveness from his partner and confirms his devotion and undying love for her. The song is a slow jam niger style revolting track, which shows that indeed the lady needs to reconcile from all angles and all aspects of life.
Diva Vebrok explained that the gist for the song was to encourage lovers to learn to forgive each other and always know that both men and a women could make mistakes. Oteke comes after her previous single, Sorry babe.
Diva Vebrok is the first woman to own a production house in Botswana, named Vebtainment. Ends
