Blue black white Miss Millennium on cards

The search is on for the Miss Millennium beauty pageant.
The annual pageant, which will now be celebrating nine years of existence, is expected to give tribute to the country’s colours through the usage of blue, black and white colours at the opening act, says the Millenium event organiser, Zenzele Hirschfeld.
The unique pageant targets women who are 40 years and above, who have substance, regardless of height, weight and has attracted women from different spheres of life, and coming as far as Mahalapye, Serowe and Tonota.
She said although the pageant was meant for fun, it did not mean that it did not have its rules and regulations.
The idea is that after 10 years, all the previous winners should compete among themselves, of which they will be judged according to the projects that they have embarked on.
The queen has to be engaged with the community timely.
“Our vision in this pageant was to accommodate and provide a platform for every woman who has the passion and desire, but does not know how to go about giving back to the community,” she said.
She condemned those who deemed the pageant to be condoning alcoholism, as she confirmed that most of the women who participated were professionals from different sectors.
“So far about 12 women have been identified for the competition, unlike in the past, where the contestants were engaged in traditional parade, this time we have replaced it with the blue, black and white dance,” she said.
She said they were proud as the organisers that they have lived the vision, as they have chosen to be a compassionate, just and caring nation as their work spoke for that.
“We have given to the Mogoditshane and Moshaneng communities and also extended a hand to other villages including Molepolole, Mmopane, Mmanaka, Maun and Selibe Phikwe,” she said.
She said on the 6 February, there would be a motivational dialogue where the former Miss Botswana, Juby Peakok and fashion designers would share with contestants and groom them on different life aspects.
“On the 7th February, we will be introducing the contestants to the Millenium community for the first time, and unveil the sponsor of the event.
The response has been overwhelming as the Mogoditshane business community has stretched their hand towards the endevour, with the contest planned to be on the 13th February,” she said.
Hirschfeld has promised revellers tight security and the safety of their possessions and cars. Ends
