Molepolole court changes trial dates

28 Jan 2016

A case in which some Molepolole farmers are charged with assaulting and injuring another farmer, Mr Morris Sekgee and assaulting Mr Tiego Charlie has had new trial dates set for March 3 and 4.

Outgoing Molepolole chief magistrate, Ms Faith Dlamini Nngandu set new trial dates following the withdrawal from the case by the accused persons attorney, Mr Maikano Pule who is joining the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

The incident is reported to have taken place at Diagane in Kweneng on 1 March 2013.

The new defence attorney, Mr Phodiso Motsau has applied that the court allow him time to familiarise himself with the case, revising the file of the former attorney and that of the magistrate.

However, the state prosecutor, Mr Tshiamo  Montshiwa expressed displeasure despite having agreed with Mr Motsau for the trial dates to be shifted from February to March, saying it was an old case but has made no progress, adding that he attends the case from Jwaneng.

The farmers, Masego Phuduhudu, Setoba Kgalaeng, Balimi Kgalaeng, Badisa Kgalaeng and Atamekang Molelowapula will appear again before court on February 28th for confirmation of trial dates.  Ends
