Driven by the desire to assist the youth in the challenges they face towards unemployment, Goitseone Gagoope, describes his book as “tried and tested,” as it has helped secure jobs for most readers.
In his 2015 edition, the slim but lovely volume, entitled How to win that job interview and become a better employee, is an antidote for those considering to seek employment and has been written to address the problems that job seekers face.
“People fail interviews not because they are under qualified, but just because they are dependent on textbooks written for the environment other than theirs because of the inborn and death of books suited and appropriate for their designated jobs they happen to fail in their career paths,” he said.
Fortunately the book can help the job seekers and those on their toes to find work, as he puts it, ‘’with much assistance of the “tested and effective job interview answers.”
Gagoope is a full time performance and improvement coordinator under the Ministry of Lands and Housing. He is responsible for monitoring performance of the departments of land board. The 32-year-old is also a part time business communication lecturer at Gaborone Academy and Eslimate Training Centre.
He starts off the book by extolling the adaptation to life after college including all its challenges.
He then gently reminds us of more job search strategies and tips for an attractive cover letter which makes finding a job effectively and efficiantly.
If you still do not know what to do with the rest of your life it is best to skim through the first half of the book for convincing and informative tips on becoming a better employee.
Gagoope offers points on ways of tapping into the hidden market and preparing for an interview.
“Job interviews makes us feel nervous even if we know we would be great for the job,” he said.
The author flashes out the listings in each chapter with useful and practical information about job seeking and an elaborate chapter of interview sample questions and answers thus making the interview sessions easier and conducive for the job seekers in the course of their journey towards finding employment.
Finally he highlights on how to respond to a job offer mainly focusing on points to consider after the successful event of an interview.
“In compilation of this book, I was motivated by the need to contribute and give back to the community which made me what I am. The tips on a successful job seeking information is lacking and as such affects the youth in terms of employment,” he said.
He added that the books used in compiling information and its organisation makes it concrete as it covers a lot of details thus making it useful in job seeking.
“The desire is to make Botswana a destination of service excellence therefore I plead for support as this book can be recommended for youth and students usage. The next edition is eyed for 2017,” he said. Ends
