BDF band concert sets stage ablaze
13 Dec 2015
Get on your feet, put on your dancing shoes and catch the festive season mood, this is what the BDF Band in concert ignited at Kagiso Senior Secondary Hall on Saturday night.
With only few days before the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the band display came at an appropriate time to set the tone for the festive festivities.
The night started with orchestra sounds from the military band which played prelude for an occasion by Edward Gergson, Botswana by KTM Choir, Weekend Special by Brenda Fassie and Jo’burg by Hugh Masekela.
It was Botswana and Jo’burg which were arranged by the choirmaster, Chedza Fane which got the crowd flicking fingers in appreciation of the band heroic displays.
From the military band, the crowd had the taste of Pipes and Drums, Brass quintet, traditional dance and polka all by the BDF staff.
After a brief interval, the band came resolute to set the stage ablaze and to give the revealers a test of the band own productions.
Fane led the band with his own compilation of mofufutso, mme nthome and Captain Machael Mmereki’s compilation of Areyeng bosoleng.
Other than own produce, Leero Gaseitsiwe brought the memories of Mahlathini and Mahotela Queens with Rea dumedisa.
With a deep hoarse voice, Gaseitiswe nearly resurrected the late icon from the grave for a moment.
Already a known icon with in the band, it was not yet over for Gaseitsewe as he again set stage ablaze with Sello Malete’s Mmuso wa modimo.
Other songs which became the highlights of the night included Go on living yourself by Stimela, Asine by Kelly Khumalo, Stimela sasezola by Mbongeni Ngema and Chicco Twala’s Kwapeza which also gave the crowd a test of pantsula dance.
Other dance and songs, the BDF band donated P15 000 to Ramotswa based Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre. Ends
