Sky is limit for DJ Foxxy

10 Dec 2015

The story of Tebogo Motshidisi is an inspiring tale. Dj Foxxy, as Tebogo is fondly called, in music circles was born and bred an entertainer, something, which runs in her family.

The coy and soft spoken Motshidisi chose to turn the tables because unlike her witty father Geoffrey Motshidisi, she is not a natural born straight talker.

The father affectionately known as Rraagwe Malaakatse is a popular host of Radio Botswana’s midday show: Mo kitchining. “I am a born artiste and I use the art of music to tap into people’s souls and inner beings. My dad is a radio Dj, from as long as I can remember he has been entertaining people and he is still on it. I guess I grew into music and music grew into me,” she explained.

In her usual boisterous character, Foxxy, believes she will keep pushing to reach the limit. She has just returned from China where she spent two years studying mandarin. Her short stint in Asia proved to be stepping stone to an illustrious music journey.

“I was a resident Dj at VU Club in Beijing and I’m glad to say this was the beginning of good things to come my way, I will make sure I don’t stop, I will keep pushing, men have ears for picking good music so do I, they have hands for playing so do I, dreams belong to the chasers and I won’t stop chasing,” she said.

Outside music, Foxxy is also a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and is working as a transmission producer with Botswana Television. Foxxy broke into the entertainment industry when it was still considered a men’s world, but through her exceptional talent grabbed attention very fast.

She is a lover of all genres but enjoys playing house music to her audience. Foxxy has rubbed shoulders with some of the finest spin doctors in the region and locally. She has also worked with South African self-acclaimed queen of the turn tables DJ Zinhle (real name Ntombezinhle Jiyane) a South African DJ and aspiring actress best known as the resident DJ on the SABC1 music show Jika maJika and a permanent slot in youthful radio station Yfm.

She is a product of YDJ School academy in Gaborone and Fuse Academy in Johannesburg where she perfected her skills behind the tables. Ends
