Youth nurtures childhood passion for living

19 Nov 2015

A childhood passion for music has finally come reality for a youthful Ramokgwebana born lad, who will next month be releasing his first single hit.

Bampoloki James 26, developed a passion for music at a very tender age, but as fate would have it that did not come to pass as he went only as far as Junior Certificate, after which he enrolled for a course in catering at TSL Business Academy for six months.

He was lucky to get a job in a Catering Company that supplied the Boseto Mine at Toteng village with food.

The closure of the mine last year spelt doom for him as it meant he became jobless and life became difficult.

Faced with all the lives’ uncertainties, he then decided to revive his childhood passion for music and started writing songs and currently preparing to release his first Hip Hop (Motswako) single hit dubbed Thank You Mama before end of this year.

In an interview, James said his product is expected to hit the shelves and social media by December and the launching would be done early February next year. Currently, he is working round the clock to finalise the last touches of the single and hoped all would go according to plan.

He said his music target both youth and elders as it carries a strong message which thank mothers for the good job they did in the upbringing of their children.

He revealed that he was inspired by groups such as Eskimos and Exodus and she grew up with the love for music and wished one day he could produce his own album.

He enjoys support from his family who are assisting him financially to achieve his dream. James made efforts to approach department of Youth and apply for Youth Development Fund but he was not successful as he was told that music projects are not funded but only studio projects. James never gave up as he was determined to achieve his dream of becoming an artist.

“I worked hard and told myself that I would start with single hit and if it does well in the market, I would now work on producing my first album,” he added.

James advised other youths to exercise patience in order to realize their dreams. He explained that patience, vigilance, commitment and perseverance kept him going to realize his dream of becoming an artist.

He said they should not look at their disadvantaged backgrounds but rather take advantage of the available government initiatives in place and develop their artistic talents to earn a living . Ends
