Part of Khawa Lodge burns to ashes
16 Nov 2015
Khawa Lodge, a hospitality property owned by BOPEU under Babereki Investment in Ghanzi, caught fire last week.
The lodge's administration block, storeroom and kitchen were reduced to ashes. Tshasa Security director, Mr Kebotshabile Phuthologo, whose company provided security for Khawa Lodge, said the fire might have been caused by swarm catching. Mr Phuthologo said it appeared one of the employees was catching bees and the fire was not put out completely.
Ghanzi station commander Supt. Isaac Bojang confirmed the fire saying it erupted in the afternoon around 3pm, adding that investigations on cause of the fire were still on-going.
BOPEU president, Mr Andrew Motsamai, could not comment on the matter, saying they had sent a team to the site in order to establish the damage.
Meanwhile, an employee of Tshasa Security was found dead in what seemed like suicide at the Khawa Lodge camp site. Supt Bojang said investigations on the this case were ongoing as well.
BOPEU acquired Khawa Lodge for P7.25 million through its investments company, Babereki Investments (Pty) Ltd, and it was hoped to be operational in a year from now. Ends
