Sekaba revolutionises kids entertainment

11 Nov 2015

Boikhutso Sekaba (19), popularly known as Uncle Dipopae, has revolutionised children entertainment in Kanye. He is the sole proprietor and director of Mbazi Kids Entertainment and currently operates from his family backyard.

“Failing form three was not the end of the world to me, I had to man up and soldier on and chase my dream,” he says.

Uncle Dipopae swiftly combed for opportunities in the seemingly dark alleys of life.

“I had to go and look for a job and landed one at a car wash albeit short-lived due to poor pay. I had to look for another job because I did not want to be a burden to my mother who was already worried about my future,” he says.

As time went on, he decided to form a dancing group, Pyscho Kings in 2012, which later transmuted into Amagidos. Managing the dance group opened opportunities and catapulted him to new heights.

A year after founding Amagidos, he met Rapula Keoepile, known in entertainment circles as Roy-K, a co-founder of the famous music group, Team Distant who also runs a kids entertainment club in South Africa.

As they say, one thing led to another and ultimately the birth of Mbazi Kids Entertainment.

“Rapula and I worked together and he introduced me to a whole new and different entertainment environment which inspired and encouraged me to start up own entertainment club for the children here at home,” he says.

Uncle Dipopae says since its inception this year, Mbazi Kids Entertainment has brought joy for both the children and parents.

“The club has been hailed a huge success because among others it teaches kids self-discipline, develop them physically and provide a necessary platform to keep children away from vices such as alcohol and drug abuse.”

Mbazi Kids Entertainment also doubles as a learning centre because children are also at liberty to bring along school work to be assisted.

The club is open to all children free of charge and sessions are attended on weekly basis from 4pm to 6pm and from 12:15pm to 3pm on weekends.

It also has the business side which offers entertainment and equipment for weddings, parties, bridal showers, among others.

He is happy with the support he gets from businesses and the community in Kanye. The club is already touring the length and breadth of the country providing kid’s entertainment.

A staunch believer in God and the power of resurrection, the young lad says he attributes all the success to the faithfulness of the Almighty.

Fellow youth, he says should not give up on their dreams. His mother, Kefeletswe Sekaba, is appreciative of her son’s sterling job and maturity.

“My son never gave up in life and has been a fighter all the way and thank God his hard work is now paying dividends,” says his proud mother. Fellow youth, he says should not give up on their dreams.

Looking into other projects, Uncle Dipopae aspires to open an adult fitness centre in Kanye. This, he says is because he wants to encourage elderly people to keep fit at all times. Ends
