Tuduetso hot but not naked

10 Nov 2015

The annual Miss Hot But Not Naked (HBNN) pageant saw Tuduetso Lobelwane being crowned the queen for the year 2015/2016.

The 22-year-old queen, who was the 1st princess last year, came prepared and determined to take the crown as she was also awarded Miss Creativity with her breathtaking dinner dress that was made out of balloons.

Her dress was not the only thing that warned the judges hearts because in the talent segment she took the house by storm with her 70’s dancing skills that left attendants chanting her name.

The judges also said they were impressed by her walk and the smile that she wore throughout the evening.

During the questions and answer session, the queen was asked what it meant to her being Miss HBNN.

She explained that Miss HBNN meant a woman of virtue who was determined to empower a young girl to a virtuous woman. She added that Miss HBNN was a woman who does not believe in portraying herself as a sex object for approval by society, but rather by showing the beauty of a woman who covers her body.

Speaking in an interview after the pageant, the newly crowned queen said she decided to take part in the pageant because it carries the same believes as hers as far as women were concerned.

She also said that with the crown she believes that she would be able to empower young girls, especially in rural places where they don’t get equal opportunities compared to their counterparts in towns.

She explained that it was of vital importance that young women should be encouraged to follow their dreams regardless of the location and stereotypes attached to their villages.

“One’s home village should not determine one’s destiny or destroy their dream, that is why we women need to stand up for each other and the future generation of women so that in the coming years we can have more women in power,” she said.

The pageant organiser, Ewetse Tshenyo explained that for a long time women have been exposing their bodies in the name of beauty, and that the pageant was a reminder that there was no need of nakedness in beauty.

She thanked the support the pageant got, saying it was successful. She said it has also grown from last year’s as this year it was able to reach more contestants.

This year’s pageant attracted 12 contestants. The queen won herself a cash prize of P5 000 and a trip to Durban while her 1st princess,  Baker Jakoba won P3 000  with  the 2nd princess Thato Thipe walking away with P2 000. Ends
