Leveticus drops album

09 Nov 2015

It has always been the norm in musical circles that when the festive holidays are upon us, there has to be that song that depicts the mood and sets the tone for what the youth of today call turn up.

“Pina ya December” as some would say, and one song that comes to mind is the Mahempe song. Fact of the matter is that it is recognizable and it does not have to do with whether the song is good or not, but the fact that people easily recognise it.

In come Leveticus, a group of three young men who have released three singles and it was none other than Presley aka Prez Beats on production.

Boniface “Chillizer” Tshiping, Thabang “Don” Saturday and Cedric “Izy” Bojang are what makes Leviticus and it has been a long road for them as they started out as choreographers.

“I started out working with Odirile “Vee” Sento while both Thabang and Cedric had the opportunity to choreograph for Wizards who were formerly known as Wizards of the Desert,” said Boniface in an interview.

He indicated that they are a relatively new and unknown music group but in terms of choreography, people do know who they are.

“We have known each other from early childhood and as time went by we decided to discontinue choreography and formulate our own music group,” said Boniface, adding that prior to their upcoming singles, they released another single titled Enyimbo which was not that successful but it did not deter them. The three singles are I’m sorry, Tempted to Touch and Chelete featuring Maxy and they are all captivating.

With a bit of influence from West Africa especially Nigerian music, the trio will surely make a mark with this offering.

The instruments are clean and are not all over the place which is truly a Prez Beats production, and the only thing that may work against the artists is them trying to sound Nigerian even though they sing in Setswana.

But besides that, the singles are amazing and one could listen to the songs over and over. They are danceable and enjoyable.

Boniface indicated that there was a lot of trial and error that went into recording the three singles.

“With the charismatic and gifted producer in Prez Beats, we got a commanding and infectious sound that everyone will jam to this festive,” he said.

He also indicated that they are planning a listening session for the singles and are pleading with various individuals, institutions and organizations to offer any kind of support to them. Ends
