05 Nov 2015
Palapye police are appealing to residents to help them with information that could lead to the arrest of suspects in the two rape incidents that occurred in the village last month.
Officer in charge for CID Palapye, Mr Zachariah Babusi said in one incident, a Lotsane Senior Secondary School student was raped on her way to school.
He said the suspect was still on the run and that no arrests have been made. Investigations are still ongoing. In another incident, he said a 23-year-old woman was raped around 5am. He also said no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. He appealed to the public to join hands with the police to arrest the suspects.
Meanwhile, Mr Babusi said a man aged 22 years was found lying in a pool of blood with stabs on his body last weekend at Extension Three.
He said the man was certified dead on arrival at the hospital. However, he said investigations on the matter were still at a preliminary stage.
He further raised concern over assault cases, adding that the police registered eight assault cases in one weekend as well as house breakings and burglaries.
Mr Babusi also warned the public about a syndicate of conmen who claim to be selling diamonds. He said the syndicate operates in various areas, adding that some have been arrested in Serowe. Ends
