Maroku consoles rape domestic violence victims

02 Nov 2015

Prince Maroku’s album, Mosireletsi, was launched over the weekend.

The audience got the chance to listen to tracks such as Trust, featuring Lebogang, Mosireletsi, Heal our Land, Tufurafhi, which means 'lets praise, Re fe matla and Re Thuse as they danced to the tunes.

Mosireletsi is a tribute album to rape and domestic violence survivors.

Maroku said he appreciated the pain of being a victim, that was why most of his  songs encouraged people to look up to God for help in whatever situation they might find themselves.

He released Mosireletsi because he went through a lot of trials in his life.

He started his music career at a primary school level in the 90s when he made the school choir. In 2008, he joined Hosana Gospel Ministry Group, which was based in Tlokweng by then and that is where he realised his full potential.

Through Hosana Gospel Ministry Group he met and worked with gospel music giants in the likes of Pastor Benjamin Dube, William Sejake, Duncan and Sechaba and he was honoured to share a stage with such powerful singers and got a chance to be their backing vocalist.

In 2010, Prince went solo and established his own group called The Victors Group and they recorded their first album titled Kgalema Ntate. After the trials and tribulations he went though he became closer to God as realised that there is no life without Christ.

“I write songs of hope, songs of victory, celebration songs.  In this album I have used various languages, Setswana, English, Xhosa, Zulu and Swahili, something I never did before,” he said.

South African gospel icon, Deborah Fraser inspires him. He  says he is humbled by the way Kgalema Ntate received airplay from radio stations, especially Duma fm, RB 1 and 2 and he hopes Mosireletsi will do just as well.

He recorded Mosireletsi at Nice and Cut Studio as he wanted a different feel from Kgalema Ntate, which was recorded at Tebbie Recording Studio.

The gospel star worked with a number of artistes such as Tshenolo, Mandu, Lebogang Rantsho, Masego and her group from Sikwane.

Prince performs in charity events to raise money to support the less privileged and he is committed to helping the people rather than making money as he performs free of charge in such events and also ‘touches souls’.

The gospel star is currently working on his auto biography, which will be out soon.

He encouraged upcoming artistes to remain true to themselves, give their best and have passion towards Gods word and put Him before everything.

He promised supporters that The Victors Gospel Group is yet to record Kgalema Ntate Vol 2.

Prince’s mother, Ntombizonke Maroku said she gives thanks to the Lord for her son, whom she describes as a miracle as he went through trials and tribulations from the day he was born and as he grew up, but God fought his battle.

She encouraged the audience to trust in the Lord even in trials and never give up. The audience also got a chance to hear songs from Kgalema Ntate, which is still receiving airplay from radio stations. Ends
