Composers show impresses music enthusiasts

Choral music fanatics had a relaxed Sunday (November 1) afternoon at the annual KTM choir local composers show.
KTM and Tshwane Symphony Orchestra from South Africa displayed an immense talent. The event marked five years of the show while it consisted of new compositions that had never been performed before.
New composers at this year's show included Ame Makoba, Kgolagano Kgagodi, Albert Mosime and Kabelo Kgosimore among others. Since inception, show has produced Botswana's own orchestrators in Phillimon Mataela, Luka Disho and Puso Phetwe.
Melodious pieces offered at the show included Ntate ke mang, composed by Luka Disho who is also the choir conductor and Bogolo jwa Modimo by Ame Makoba.
Other songs included Bagaka ba pina by Albert Mosime, Jesu Mmoloki by Kgolagano Kgagodi, Tshenyetso Sechaba by Kabelo Kgosimore and Rorisang Jehova among others.
Local composers show concept was developed by KTM choir to celebrate Botswana's choral music composers.
The show, which is held every year in October or November, has ever since shown good signs of growth in the past years.
Meanwhile, some of the objectives of KTM choir included to act as a role for choral singing and music professionalism and to provide young people with an opportunity to learn, appreciate and develop their talents in music. Ends
