Seboni appreciates volunteers

Lobatse International beef festival (LBIF) organiser , Barolong Seboni has lauded volunteers for their support in helping to organise the event and making it a success.
He extended his appreciation towards internship program beneficiaries and trainees from Lobatse Brigade, Barolong Vocational Training and Institute of Health Science (IHS) by awarding them with certificates.
Speaking during the appreciation day, Seboni said these personnel were the responsible manpower for the success of the event, working under different categories such as setting up the VIP and corporate tents, firewood and braai stands, gate keeping and security therefore, gaining professional, personal skills and work ethics that are deemed important in the corporate world.
He said the event which is hosted in Lobatse as a home of beef in Botswana is meant to celebrate and promote business relationships, strengthen community workmanship and create a vibe through the celebration of beef.
Seboni who is the director of Invent Events Company said their intention to engage interns was one way of imparting skills that the trainees could gain and explore in the workplace in future.
He implored them to continue with that spirit of volunteerism as it allows trainees to network with potential clients and employers, meet different people in an ambient and relaxed atmosphere in the outdoor lifestyle.
Moreover he said volunteerism is a strong drive that the trainee could adopt as it plays an important role in the growth of their life skills.
He further explained that he is in consultation with Lobatse and Barolong brigades to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to solemnize their working relationships.
Lobatse/Barolong brigade Deputy Principal, Isaac Modiakgotla said the award ceremony was hosted to recognise and appreciate interns and trainees for the good job they undertook during the event.
He said the idea was to give them practical insights of possible marketing, public relations strategies and project management of the LBIF.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, Lobatse/Barolong VTC Principal Mary Mabua thanked LBIF organizing committee for engaging their interns/trainees as she said it is a vital platform for them to know the world they were living in, and it is also an opportunity for them to know what is available in the market..
She also urged interns to take positive decisions in their everyday activities to shape a better future for themselves.
Mabua further encouraged them to uphold the spirit of volunteerism and encouraged them not to be despaired by not being paid for their rendered services.
Giving their testmonies, Oampona Gofhamodimo from Lobatse brigade said he got inspired at the LBIF show and they got the opportunity to build their interpersonal and communication skills as they interacted with different people from all walks of life.
Another speaker, Gabatshwane Moilwa from Barolong VTC said he gained practical experience as he had the opportunity to see the cattle breeds that they usually deal with during their lectures.
In her closing remarks, Lobatse IHS Deputy Principal Keamogetse Masupologo thanked LBIF organising committee for the great collaboration with different institutions adding that it revives the spirit of volunteerism and at the same time promotes patriotism amongst citizens.
Invent Events company also donated a projector to Lobatse/Barolong VTC as a way of supporting the institution for a better learning environment. ENDS
