O jewa ke eng hits shelves

Weaving musical bridges that connect traditional and modern rumba dance music with, funk, and world beat rhythms, Afro Rhumba Stars , behind the creative energy of the Identical Twins, Paul and Israel Basumi, through their second album, titled O jewa ke eng, poses a fearless topical sound strictly the ghetto style. 

Saul Basumi also known as Captain Dollary pronounces their new album to be their lyrical and rhythmic antidote to factional bickering in the music industry. 

Track 2, 100% Baesekele, is deemed to be a response to Charmagirl’s track sekuta sekuta, and kabelo’s Tonkanka, marking their race in the rumba arena, with the lyrics  Ba leseng ba bine sekuta, nna kele saul ke tlaa ba bona ka baesekele.

Track 4, Rente ya Gaborone is an appeal to the President, Members of Parliament, councillors about the high rentals in the unhospitable conditions of Mogoditshane, it is a cry and a reminder to the them “to say we need their representation.”

Track 5, Mapodisi is a groovy call which states that; Mapodisi gare batle stress, gompieno ke letsatsi la monate, Track 6,  Drivers ,highlights caution of road safety, with fusion of the folksong, Ohh fa ke sheba, connecting it to the other wellknown folksong Kgalemelang sematla se.

He lamented that the songs are exclusively in Setswana, and  goes on with Track 7, O jewa ke eng, a sad and at the same time jolly song, with the motive to prompt people to tell others of the things that bother them and refrain from silence and secrecy.

“Track 8 is dedicated to my football team Township Rollers as I am its fanatic, with Track 9 being Marata helele, the idea is meant to deter people from dwelling on other people’s issues.”

Track 10, titled Hupenyu is dedication and  a tribute to their mentor, “Tongai Moyo Dewa”, a well know Zimbabwean artiste, who was our inspiration, while growing up.

“He passed on before we could collaborate with him,” he said. The lead guitarist Kuseri Kumamakili, and legend Samurai Ngingo, brings in the genuine mesmerizing rhythm of rumba to life with power and charisma in their Congolese folkloric ensemble. ENDS
