Super Letshabo funeral Saturday
22 Oct 2015
Former Botswana Democratic Party councillor for Molapowabojang, businessman and talent promoter, Nelson ‘Super’ Letshabo will be laid to rest in Molapowabojang on Saturday (October 24).
Leshabo died last Saturday at Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone after a short illness. His sister and family spokesperson, Mavis Letshabo-Kwamongwe confirmed that the funeral service will be held at the village kgotla.
Friends from a wide spectrum of fields such as politics, sports, entertainment and business also organised a service at his place to honour the memory of the fallen hero. Letshabo-Kwamongwe added that the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) would also host a memorial service today at the Molapowabojang church.
Super’s untimely death comes after he recently rebranded his entertainment centre ‘Rec park’ to become South Gate entertainment Centre during Independence holidays last month. The facility will have a club for DJs, swimming pools, playgrounds and accommodation units for guests among others.
Letshabo was instrumental in the promotion of local talent by affording budding artistes and upcoming DJs an opportunity to showcase their stuff at his club for the last 23 years, according to Boiki Madiba, a resident DJ.
In a recent interview with Super before he died, he said his passion was to see local artistes living off their talent. He said he gave them an opportunity to share the stage and hone their skills with international artistes such as the disco king, Dan Tshanda, Silindile and Patricia Majalisa among others for free.
He noted that upcoming artistes have it hard to market their products. He hoped the rebranding of his business will enable him to attract international artistes to perform in Molapowabojang. Super, who was also a DJ, said he started his P3 million worth of business on his own using proceeds from music shows.
He served the Southern District as a councillor from 2004-2014. He is survived by his wife, four children, sister and three brothers. BOPA
