Department of Broadcasting Services’  general manager (radio), Keitirele Mathape says Mike Klinck has contributed to the growth of RB 2.

Speaking at Klinck’s memorial service in Gaborone on Tuesday October 22, Mathape said RB 2’s target audience was youth but during his tenure at the station, he never faced difficulties in  adjusting.

She said Klinck also assisted in live broadcast, adding that producing and presenting live broadcast was not easy, but Klinck was always available to assist.

She said they were proud to have allowed themselves to become a training ground for the best media person, adding that her department was proud to be associated with the first Motswana to own a television station

Mathape therefore urged media practitioners to always carry Klinck's legacy by upholding media ethics. Klincks friend, Charlie Okabo, said his friend was a jovial person, and his jokes always cheered him up when he was down.

He described Klink as a hard worker, ambitious and result orientated, adding that his trade mark was to see people happy at all times.

“I will forever grateful that I met Klinck at the right time. He was always there for me. I will always be grateful for the 19 years I have spent with him and I will always cherish the memories we shared together” he said.

Klink, 51, passed away on october 15. He was the chairperson of the board of directors and director of eBotswana.

He has worked for the then Information and Broadcasting as a news anchor and at RB 2 where he was known as DJ Mickey D, he was also Barclays Bank communication manager.
