Kgosi Mosadi of Balete has implored the top 15 Miss Africa, Botswana finalists to treasure the spirit of Botho.
The tribal leader, who is the chairperson of the advisory committee of the pageant, said this during a familiarisation lunch withe the contestants.
“I was impressed to see your performances when you showcased different cultures of Botswana during the first stage of your pageant. It is crucial that we know the different parts of our country,” she said.
She promised the finalists that arrangements shall be made for them to meet with the Ntlo ya Dikgosi members.
“You should look at your existence as the upliftment of a woman, and a platform in the society to change the challenges that we face in our country such as HIV/AIDS, unemployment and corruption,” she said.
Kgosi Mosadi said it was disheartening that youth did not utilise government programmes.
She also advised the contestants to refrain from being bitter, as only one girl shall be crowned queen but rather network and assist the queen.
“Recently the British High Commission launched the Botswana Foundation Trust, which is mainly focused on assisting the youth. These are some of the opportunities which you can venture in to uplift our community,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Miss Africa Botswana chief execeutive, Bruce Nkgakile said the meeting was crucial as it was meant for the finalists to appreciate the level of seriousness of the pageant.
“Revellers should expect an international spectacular event on the 7th November 2015 at Fairgrounds. As the founders of the pageant, we shall be hosting numerous countries such as Lesotho, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Ends
