Billy advises residents about burial society

08 Oct 2015

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Francistown East, Mr Buti Billy has advised residents to form a proper burial society group plan. Addressing a kgotla meeting at Donga, Mr Billy explained that a active burial society provides support for families and communities in their time of need.

He said the idea was still under negotiation to persuade the local mortuary to adapt the envisioned system and urged residents to be ready for the opportunity.

The Francistown East MP said he has realised that burial societies were useful, especially for people with little money and no insurance policies. In addition, Mr Billy said burial society groups take the sting out of death by giving a dignified farewell to the dead.

One of the residents, Mr Mmilili Bathoeng commended the idea, adding that insurance policies have cheated them because they default to pay consistently.

He said insurance policies do not take their money issues into account. He added that team work, cooperation and respect for one another would ensure the success of the project.

On other issues, Mr David Sekgwama complained about domestic waste that pollutes the environment.

He said some of the waste was caused by the death of roaming street dogs and urged the by-law office to take action against the owners of the dogs. Responding to some of the issues raised, MP Billy urged people to monitor their dogs, cats and chickens by keeping them indoors all the time. Ends
