Keamogetse Motswaphuphung from Ncaang was crowned the fairest of all beauty queens in the Kgalagadi RADP settlements over the past weekend in Tsabong.
Tsaone Ditshoso from Inalegolo emerged the first princess while Francinah Bless from Khawa was made second princess in the Miss RADP 2015 contest.
Giving a keynote address at the event, Kgalagadi district council chairperson Justice Nkwane said the pageant is a perfect platform because it prepares the contestants for greater opportunities in future.
“It builds up the participants’ mental strength, promotes self-reliance, builds self-esteem and enhances dignity,” he said.
The chairperson revealed that the initiative is the brainchild of the affirmative action framework for remote area communities, which ensures that they benefit from national programmes across all sectors.
He went on to say that it promotes social inclusion of people in remote settlements in the development of the country by building their self-esteem through active participation in national events. The national Miss RADP finals will be held in Gaborone in November.
The chairperson challenged the winner to ensure that she rivals past contestants’ successes by clinching the title. He pointed out that those who represented the district at national finals never disappointed in the past.
The district scooped position two in 2013 while the 2014 representative scooped position three. The pageant was held under the theme, Unearth Beauty and Talent. Ends
