Kasane goes colorful for charity
02 Oct 2015
Kasane joined Gaborone dwellers in throwing the first ever colour run in the country, all in the name of charity.
The event ran parallel to the colour run that was held in Gaborone recently. Organised by the Leanne Britton Foundation, the event brought together mostly business people from the tourism industry to run for a cause.
Leanne Britton, who died in 2014, was well known for her philanthropic deeds in Chobe through the Chobe Safari Lodge.
The colour run therefore was to fundraise for the organisation and give back to vulnerable children.
The foundation co-founder, Bettina Kelly, said they wanted to do something different from the usual Blisters for Sisters event that they had already commemorated annually.
“We are not sure this will be an annual event, but it has been a success,” she said. Though they had expected more than 150 people to turn up, she was happy with the 120 plus that made it. Duncan Britton, who is also a co-founder and the husband to the late Leanne, said they would pick a project to donate to.
In the past, Leanne worked closely the with Kachikau Special needs unit, which housed pupils with various forms of disabilities. Ends
