Spring Xplosion heats up
24 Sep 2015
It is time to shake off winter with a massive line up of international and local artists at the biggest music event; Spring Xplosion on September 29. This year’s Spring Xplosion will be hosted at the Fairgrounds instead of the initial Molapo Piazza.
The show will field South African artists such as Culoe de Song, Black Motion, hip hop star Ricky Rick and Heavy K AKA Heavy Khusta of the Yini hit song. Heavy K replaced house sensation and multi award winning record producer, Black Coffee, the latter is set to receive an award in Miami.
City slickers are to be served with a good night of music with a massive line up of local artists; among them will be MMP who will perform alongside the likes of Dramaboi, DJ Gouveia, Chrispin the drummer.
Kwaito-kwasa energetic kingpin Vee, who recently released his new album Super Natural Volume 3, will also grace the show.
The event is powered by disk spinner muso, DJ Kutchi and will be hosted by the big guys, Dollarmac of Yarona Fm, RB2’s T.H.A.B.O. and Sadi of Flava Dome.
Some of the artists have recently released albums and singles, hence an opportune time for revellers to have a dose of their latest offerings.
Dr Malinga is expected to perform his single hit Papa Oteng, which is currently causing a frenzy, Vee will also perform the much anticipated Africa hit and the ever MMP, a dose city slickers would only wish for.
In an interview recently, co-organiser of Spring Xplosion Kabelo Tron promised revellers a pumped up date with a music extravaganza night.
“This year, we bring you a heavy line up, both international and local artists,” said Tron.
He said they would be bringing a game with a state of the art stage with an international standard sound production. For this edition, he said “most of the artist will be performing live, we are expecting local artists with the likes of Vee, Machesa and Team Distant to perform live music.
Heavy K will be doing the same bringing along his piano man.” Tron said they decided to replace Black Coffee with Heavy K on the basis that the renowned DJ will be engaged. “We brought Heavy K in Black Coffee’s place because on the same night Coffee will be attending an award ceremony in Miami.”
Giving an update on security status, Tron said they have assembled 400 security personnel Botswana Police Service inclusive.
He said there would be a mobile clinic on site, a development he described as the first of its kind in such events.
Tron explained that they had to move the event from Molapo Piazza because of its limited capacity.
“Molapo Piazza only takes about four thousand people, but we are anticipating more than twelve thousand people to grace the event, hence moving the event to Fairgrounds,” he said.
He also said parking was a worrisome factor at the initial place, adding that at Fairgrounds reliable parking space is available. Ends
