South Gate seeks to heighten entertainment

22 Sep 2015

South Gate Entertainment Centre formerly trading as Molapowabojang Recreational Park is exploring ways to hype the entertainment industry in the country.

The managing director of the facility,  Super Letshabo told BOPA in an interview that they would start by roping in the best international artistes to impart skills to aspiring, young and seasoned local artistes.

He said hosting international shows would help realise the objectives of the move in various ways, as there would be cross pollination of skills. The South Gate Entertainment Centre affords Batswana more especially those in the Southern District an opportunity for sport and entertainment, thus diverting the youth from bad practices, he added.

He said the facility promotes entertainment, sport and cultural tourism as well as other sectors that might improve the lives of Batswana. Such an entertainment centre, he added sidetracks people from social ills that bedevil the country.

The facility hosts volleyball games, festivals, talent shows, family fun day activities as well as other indoor and outdoor functions, he said. It also has accommodation rooms where people can spend their holidays.

As part of the move, Letshabo said on September 29, different genres will be brought to the centre to spoil music fanatics. South African artistes in the likes of TradeMark and Zinhle of Shumaya fame are expected to ignite the launch of new brand name - South Gate Entertainment Centre. However, the local line-up will include MMP family, Eskimos, Joses and 10 local deejays.

Advance ticket cost P70 whereas at the gate it will be P100. Letshabo said the place has a carrying capacity of 3 000 people. Ends
