Anti-wrinkle treatment hits local shores

14 Sep 2015

The Dental Spa recently introduced a new addition to its service bouquet with the launch of botox treatment in Gaborone. Aesthetics dentistry specialist, Badiredi Tau, said at the event that botox treatment is a “smart choice” for people who want to enhance their appearance without having intensive plastic surgery procedures.

“Botox is a trade-name for a protein called Botulinum Toxin A, produced by the bacterium clostridium botulin. It is mainly used in the treatment of facial wrinkles.

The treatment involves the injection of botox into specific facial muscles to reduce their contraction,” he said.

He said while injecting the botox is seen as a procedure that can only be performed by highly qualified professors of medicine, “it is a very simple procedure.”

He said that his clients have been happy with the results they have seen so far. He said botox is regulated by the Ministry of Health. He explained that every time there is a patient to be administered with botox, an application is made to the ministry.

“The application states the diagnosis accompanied by a motivation for using botox on the client,” he said.

Tau further said they are working on creating public awareness on botox. For her part, the brand ambassador of Botox Cosmetics, Noleen Farr, confirmed that botox is able to get rid of unwanted facial lines. She said the drug is a safer, cheaper and less painful option compared to surgery. Ends
