Adults entertainment on cards

31 Aug 2015

The entertainment and leisure industry in Botswana seems to be neglecting the adults when it comes to entertainment activities. This, however will soon become a thing of the past.

A local events company, Unlimited Events Solutions has come up with a programme that will suitably provide for the elderly in the society, the Selebaleng Batsadi Entertainment and Leisure Programme.

Speaking at the launch of the programme recently, company CEO; Nick Ndaba said the idea came about the realisation that the local entertainment and leisure industry had little to offer the adults especially the retirees when it came to recreational activities for enjoyment, amusement and pleasure.

He also said with the current situation, adults were not comfortable mixing with young people at entertainment and leisure activities; hence they ended up having no places to hang out.

He added that research had shown that such situations had serious implications on the health and wellbeing of those affected. Ndaba thus said it was for such reasons that the Selebaleng Batsadi sought to add a new dimension to the quality of lives of adults especially retirees and senior citizens by hosting special gala dinners, fun days and sporting days.

The programme also intends to have special tours to local tourist attractions and beyond the borders to destinations such as Cape Town, Durban, Victoria Falls, Maputo and any other destination of choice.

As the owners of the programme, Ndaba said they were still open to ideas and suggestions from the public, adding that they needed more stakeholders to come on board.

Meanwhile, the first event of the Selebaleng Batsadi Entertainment and Leisure Progamme will be a gala dinner and is slated for November at the Gaborone International Convention Centre. ENDS
