Macheng Music Concert billed for Lehututu
27 Aug 2015
The newly introduced Macheng Music Concert, which will be held at Lehututu Community Hall on Saturday, is expected to host 23 disc jockeys and 13 artists.
The event organiser, Kabelo Nkwane said the concert will raise funds that will go towards improving the learning environment for disabled pupils at Makgakgane Primary School in Hukuntsi.
The Hukuntsi born artist said during his consultation with the management of the school he learnt that their special education unit was faced with shortage of stationery such as paints, brushes and gym equipment.
“I personally believe that our education system needs the involvement of all stakeholders. In a middle-income country like Botswana, the education system cannot produce the desired results if other stakeholders are spectators and the only player is the government. Besides, it’s upon us as stakeholders to help the government to realise one of the pillars of Vision 2016 of a compassionate, just and caring nation,’’ he said.
Nkwane, who is also known as DJ Maskhebo, recently competed in the President’s Day arts competitions where he scooped position five, winning P6 000. He put the money back into the community by organising the music concert.
The compassionate young man emphasised that the other mandate of the event was to promote and unearth raw talent. Ends
