Poofatshe rocks airwaves

Tlhotlhomiso Maruping, known in the music industry, as Skazzo, is making waves with his new single song dubbed Poofatshe.

The kwaito star who hails from Molapowabojang but born and bred in Lobatse in 1984, started his music career at a very young age while still at primary school and his talent continued to show off as he grew up.

He told BOPA in an interview that he is currently working on his fourth album called Heavy Weight to be released this year.

He said as a kwaito artiste he sings along songs, listens to the lyrics of other music and he normally enjoys listening to jazz, old kwaito and Menjamin Dube music because he loves good quality music.

Skazzo recorded his first album called abashwe in 2003 under the record label called x3mix and the first album was produced by Cani Mackhenzo and it is still rocking the airwaves to this day.

He released his second album titled Inja yakhona which showed much growth and determination in his music career, and, with songs like Hoof hoof, his works became some the best in Botswana.

Skazzo continued his music career by releasing his third album dubbed Mr Wizzo which had songs such as Followfollow which is still rocking radio stations line ups.

Skazzo said radio stations are trying in playing local artists songs but not like they used to do in past because this days artistes have to give them good quality music with best beats which are well mastered for them to have a chance to be played on air.

The kwaito stars’ new single is recorded, mastered and distributed by Rock Lefatshe records and he is planning to work with different producers and upcoming artists and his fourth album will be out end of October this year. 

He said is working on opening his new record label soon to take Bw music to another level. He said the music industry is growing with new upcoming artists coming in and needing to be groomed and natured as they have rich talent.

He urged upcoming artists to school first as it is tough in the music industry since one needs more knowledge and skills in the music business to produce quality music and performance that will pull supporters. Ends
