PhuzaUzwe hits shelves

The world is full of colorful and talented characters but, funny enough, not all of their faces can be found in glossy magazines or celebrity news shows.
Core crew is a group of three young men aged between 20 and 22 years of age including: Mpho Mokhure, Gopolang Ramokgwana and Gofaone Simane joined together by their rapping talents.
The young rappers hail from Kanye, one of the largest villages in Botswana, and the group started their music career in early 2007 doing hip hop but they later switched to Kwaito Rap dropping a single dubbed PhuzaUzwe beginning of this month.
The musicians say they were inspired to do rap because of the firm grip the genre has on the music industry and the love for local music and its rhythm; they were also inspired by Real Magosi and Big L Wasekai as they usually listen to their tunes.
Core crew did their recording and mastered their piece at Paper Chase Records and they are currently working on their own distributing their cd’s themselves, while Rumess Beats was their producer.
The love for music from a tender age saw the union between the crew members and also listening to the same genre had an impact; at first the crew had the name El Shadaah before changing to Kwaito rap.
The name Core was chosen looking at the originality of the music the crew produces which is 100 per cent pure street rap and in all their production they do not use auto tune.
The crew is currently working on another album called School of Kwaito with a lead single called Stallion featuring Antonnete HotsunDayz and Kevin Tshipi.
The group is not yet satisfied with the coverage they receive since they say that international acts are given more priority over local acts, not just in the case of Core group but in the local music fraternity.
Apart from music, the youthful rappers focuses on their studies as two of them are second-year University of Botswana students, while three study at Botho University.
Future plans lined up for Core Crew include working on their own clothing line, and building their own music empire, owning their own studio and having many artists working under their Brand name. Ends
