Botswana Police in District Number 5 are pleased with the crime trend, which is going down.
This was disclosed by District Number 5, Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Chabaesele Kesupetswe in an interview this week. He said there has been a lot of improvement in offences such as burglary and theft, store breaking, robberies, murder, threat to kill, and theft of motor vehicle.
He also said through team work with the community, crime prevention committees, public education in kgotla meetings and the visibility of the police officers in the streets, crime has reduced.
Snr Supt Kesupetswe has urged the community at large to cooperate with the police in fighting crime, adding that working in partnerships will help fight crime, adding that the offence of rape is fluctuating.
Meanwhile, Miss Bonno Kethotsweemang of Boseja ward has told BOPA that she joined the neighbourhood watch initiative to help in fighting crime.
She noted that there are some people who do not want to be involved in the neighborhood watch initiative, which helps neighbours to know each other better and their goods. Ends
