Police investigate break-ins

28 Dec 2012

Francistown police are investigating incidents of house break-ins at Satellite and  Block 8 where property estimated at P31 000 was stolen.

Senior Superintendent Israel Tuelo said  the incidents were reported on Christmas day, but the exact dates on which the break-ins occurred were unknown as the owners of the houses were away.  He said in both incidents, the stolen property included plasma television sets, adding that investigations were on-going and no arrests had been made yet.

In a different incident, he said they were investigating a matter in which a one-roomed house in Block 4 burnt and property of an unknown value destroyed.

He said the police were also investigating a matter in which a 28-year-old man was attacked and stabbed with a sharp instrument by a group of men on December 25 around 2100hrs at Satellite location. Senior Supt Tuelo said two men aged 26 and 27 were helping police with the investigations while the victim was admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

He said while the Christmas holidays were generally quiet, he was disappointed about people who left their houses unattended despite the intensive police education campaigns.ENDS
