Miss Vision 2016 billed for September

With only few months left before Botswana reaches 2016, the year chosen for Botswana’s vision of change and development.

Hopeful Soul is a company formed by four interns working at Tonota national library who saw it fit to work in partnership with vision 2016 office to launch the Miss Vision 2016 “2015” beauty pageant. 

The main objective is to blow the trumpet and restore the Vision 2016 awareness before the year 2016 comes. 

The company public relations officer, Khethiwe Mogocha says the name vision 2016 has turned to be just a song everyone knows while actions to implement its primary objectives to make vision 2016 a reality are not noticeable.

She said it is high time the nation embarked on a messages and activities that promote vision 2016 pillars across the country thus making a difference in the lives of many Batswana. 

She said the Miss Vision 2016 “2015” beauty pageant contest which they are preparing for is not about money but charity and making positive contribution to the community especially those who are unfortunate in life like the orphans, the needy children and those living with disability.

She said since the young people are the future of Botswana, it is their responsibility to stand up for the nation and bring change and development in the country. She said as such they should be engaged in projects that will bring positive impact to the community. 

Mogocha said since the year 2016 is approaching and only a few months remained, a lot has to be done to prepare the way forward towards vision 2016. 

Mogocha said the aim of their company, Hopeful Soul is to bring change and enhance livelihoods of Batswana. 

She said the first beauty pageant Hopeful Souls conducted was successful and with the funds raised they were able to electrify Mabesekwa clinic in the Tonota region and they are hoping to achieve more for the community with the coming Miss Vision 2016 “2015” beauty pageant. 

Miss Mogocha stated that they started Miss Vision 2016 “2015” beauty pageant contest in March and made proposal to the Vision 2016 secretariat office to conduct this pageant and their request approved towards the end of June and were told to conduct the contest in September as it is the month for Vision 2016. 

She said even though they are working under pressure to meet the set date of September, they hope and believe they will get there. 

Hopeful Souls conducted the first auditions for Vision 2016 “2015” beauty pageant in Gaborone on August 1 and went for the second audition at Francistown on August 8, before coming for the third audition in Palapye on August 9, 2015. She said they are going to travel around Botswana to conduct other auditions at Ghanzi, Maun and other towns and villages. 

She expounded that their intention is to have each village or town representatives and the selection of 12 to 15 contestants will be made between August 16- 17. The final competition for the Miss Vision 2016 “2015” crown is scheduled for September at Majestic Hotel in Palapye. 

She clarified that their beauty pageant contest is different from others because it does not discriminate candidates on the basis of height, body size, beauty, weight or physical disability. She said it is open to all ladies over 18 years and they are looking forward to engaging the winner regardless of her physical attributes. 

She noted that the crowned queen will be the face of the charity foundation’s activities. She said they will also focus on primary and secondary students placing emphasis on vision 2016 pillars such as, “an educated and informed nation and a moral and tolerable nation” with a mixture of innovation.
