Johnson Kgaswane journeys from door to door teasing anyone in sight with his music.
A song goes for P5. The 41 -years- old is raising funds to record his debut album.
He says that he tries to save every single thebe he makes because the album is the key to a new life for him as radio and television would only give him attention when he has a record.
The money from his music also sustains his family.
Kgaswane says that he is delighted with the response he gets from the market. He has had a number of bookings at events that include wedding ceremonies.
He started playing setinkane during his childhood.
It was only in early 2014 that he bought a guitar. A chance meeting with Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture officers at Molepolole Sports Complex led to him competing and winning the President’s Day regional arts competitions.
The guitarist progressed to the national competition where he emerged 20th out of 46 contestants.
Molepolole resident, Thobo Wabone, says Kgaswane is very talented and his audiences enjoy his music so much that they pay for it.
He says that his music promotes culture and good social values among the youth.
On the other hand, Elias Mothobi, another Molepolole resident, says Kgaswane is a superb composer who should work on his live act. ENDS
